Let us start by exploring Psalm 103, verses :13-17 talks about God’s love for his children (believers). Believers are those who fear him and honor him by keeping his commandments not just because you were born a christian but if you have accepted Christ as your savior and you allow him be the lord of your life. The bible says that God knows that even as believing Christians we are weak and made of dust and as such he does not punish us as he ought to (verse 10). Even when we stumble we will not fall because he makes our steps firm Psalm 37:23.
For the longest time in my life I have dealt with condemnation. Even as a believer I have found it hard to believe that God has forgiven me my sins. The enemy keeps reminding me of sins I have committed in the past and haunts me with the repercussion that follows these sins. Having this scripture to mediate on especially the part that talks about God not punishing me as I deserve gives me hope. Even recently, I have been struggling to accept God’s mercy in an area of my life but the bible clearly says that God forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases and in addition, he redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies and satisfies me with the good things i desire. Then I will feel young and strong again like an eagle Psalm 103:3-5.
To a large extent, I guess I feel rejected sometimes because I have not seen some of my prayer request come to pass but the Bible assures me in verse 5 that he satisfies me with the good things I desire. Since God cannot lie that means I have to trust that he is more than able to do all that he has said he would do in his word. Though I may not yet see some of the things I long for, I need to trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding (Psalm 3:5-6). I also need to remember that God loves me and does not constantly accuse us, it is the devil who does that. God’s love convicts us in love so we can repent but the enemy constantly accuses us and reminds us of our sins so that we can feel tormented and think that God is always angry with us.
Some people might have had a good experience of parenting especially the love of a father so find it easier and quicker to accept the truth of the Bible, but some of us struggle with this acceptance. But allow me to encourage and remind you that this truth is for all those who have put their trust in God through Jesus. Whatever, the enemy wants you to believe, God loves us and patiently wants us to know this fact. His love is everlasting Psalm 103:17-18 and not impatient. He wants us to know this truth for ourselves so we can boldly come to him and know him more.
I would like to encourage anyone reading this who does not know the love of the father, that almighty God sent his son Jesus to die for your sin and desires to know you. He wants you to be part of his kingdom and to live in victory not in defeat. I encourage you to accept his love through his son today so you receive his love and mercy.
